Holy Cross Episcopal Church

Mark is currently the rector (lead priest) of Holy Cross. In June 2003, his family said good-bye to the military community and the Navy Chaplain Corps. and accepted a call at Holy Cross.

Martha was ordained a priest at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco and received her Masters of Divinity degree from CDSP in Berkeley in 2002. Her earlier education was done at Bates College, Maine; Oxford University, England; and Tufts University, Massachusetts. Her previous careers include: waitress and barmaid, English teacher, stay-at-home mom, church and community volunteer, and Coordinator for Children’s Ministry at St. Timothy’s, Danville. While in seminary she did her Field Education at Holy Cross and fell in love with the community. After a wonderful three years of service at St. George’s, Antioch, she accepted an invitation to “hang her stole” at Holy Cross in 2005, which she still does with great joy, having officially joined the staff in 2007. In addition to regular preaching, presiding, and pastoral care, Martha oversees many small groups, including: On Our Own, Family Circle, Community Care Team, Healing Team, The Kids’ Academy, Contemplation Group, Shawl Ministry, Women’s Events, and the yearly Women’s Retreat. She also offers Spiritual Direction. In her Sabbath time she enjoys reading, entertaining, traveling, baking, and precious time with family and friends.
